Taipei, Jan. 12 (CNA) A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck off the coast of northeastern Taiwan at 9:31 p.m. Monday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
The epicenter of the temblor was located at sea, about 24.9 kilometers east of Yilan County Hall, at a depth of 70.3 km, according to the administration.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The earthquake's intensity, which gauges the actual effects of a temblor, was highest in Yilan, Taoyuan and Hsinchu, where it measured 3 on Taiwan's seven-tier intensity scale.
