No affected baby formula sold in Taiwan amid global recall: Nestlé Taiwan

Taipei, Jan. 7 (CNA) Nestlé Taiwan said Wednesday that the affected batches of baby formula have not been sold in Taiwan, even as at least 30 countries have issued recalls over concerns that the products contain the toxin cereulide.

In a statement, the company restated that its products sold in Taiwan are all safe for consumption.

The company said that it has implemented necessary control measures to protect consumers' trust in its product and safety.

The international food company also welcomed consumers to contact its customer service centers for any questions.

According to a statement on the company's global website, the toxin, produced by certain bacteria that can cause foodbourne illness, was detected in arachidonic acid oil supplied by a major manufacturer.

The company said it is in contact with authorities in the affected countries to ensure that appropriate measures are taken.

It has tested all of its arachidonic acid oil and corresponding oil mixes, and is working with the supplier to find the root cause of the problem, the statement said.

No illnesses have been confirmed in connection with their products to date, the company said.
