Mendelsohn receives Tang Prize award

John Mendelsohn, a former president of the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and an internationally recognized leader in cancer research and treatment. He is a recipient of this year’s Tang Prize for biopharmaceutical science. His laboratory research pioneered the universally adopted concept of anti-receptor therapy that targets key cell signaling pathways as a form of cancer treatment. For his extraordinary work in cancer research, Mr. Mendelsohn also received an honorary doctorate degree from China Medical University in Taichung in 2006.
