SpaceX launches Taiwan's first self-made satellite

08/25 19:15

SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched FormoSat-5, Taiwan’s first self-designed and self-made satellite, into orbit from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on Thursday morning local time, Friday morning Taiwan time. This marks a big step forward in Taiwan’s development of space technology. It also marks yet another success for SpaceX as the rocket Falcon 9 was able to land its first stage on a ship in the Pacific Ocean while the second stage continued on and delivered the satellite. This was the 15th successful landing of a Falcon 9. If these successful recoveries of major rocket components at sea or on shore keep happening, it will allow the parts to be reused and will drive down launch costs, making it possible for more satellites to be launched. Watch this significant moment.
