Taipei, Aug. 19 (CNA) Radio presenter Lee Chi-chun (李季準) won the special contribution award of the 50th Golden Bell Awards for radio on Wednesday, while National Education Radio (教育廣播電台) leads the nomination with 17 nods.

Lee's low and deep voice has accompanied many radio listeners in Taiwan over the years and his intellectual and emotional broadcasting style has made him a "model radio host," Lee Yen-chiu (李艷秋), head of the jury, said at a ceremony to announce this year's nominees.

Lee Chi-chun, 72, has hosted several shows at Broadcasting Corporation of China in the 1960s and 70s and at China Television Co. later on. He has won several Golden Bell Awards over his decades-long career.

National Education Radio, meanwhile, leads the pack with nominations in such categories as popular music radio program, non-popular music radio program, best educational and cultural program and best children program.

A total of 129 works will vie for 26 awards at this year's ceremony, which will take place Sept. 19 at the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. The ceremony for the Golden Bell Awards for TV will be held on Sept. 26 at the same venue.
