Shanghai, Aug. 27 (CNA) Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai was named as the first one-day ambassador for the Taiwan pavilion at Shanghai World Expo, Chief Curator of the pavilion Yeh Ming-shui said Friday.

Tsai was invited to visit the Taiwan pavilion, where she performed its theme song "Taiwan's Heartbeat."

"I have been looking forward to visiting the Taiwan pavilion since I recorded the theme song," Tsai said.

The pavilion promotes the natural and the cultural attributes of Taiwan and gives visitors a chance to become more familiar with the country, she said.

After her song, Tsai danced with the pavilion's mascot, which is called the "Electronic Dance God of Taiwan," and released three electronic sky lanterns that she said carried her personal wishes.

"I hope the sky lanterns will bring peace to the country and the world and joy to all the people I love," she said. (By Charles Kang and Jeffrey Wu) enditem /pc
