Taipei, Sept. 8 (CNA) Taiwan-based Gogoro currently has over 400 battery-swapping GoStations around the country, the electric scooter company announced on Friday.

Gogoro has a total of 412 GoStations nationwide after focusing on installing battery-swapping stations since the introduction of its first GoStation in Taipei City in 2015.

The company claims GoStations are currently being established at a rate of one every 1.8 days and are available an average of one per kilometer in dense urban areas.

In July, the venture-backed company installed its first GoStations in Yunlin and Chiayi, making it possible for Gogoro riders to travel in west Taiwan without fear of running out of batteries.

Gogoro currently holds 85.1 percent of the market for electric scooters in Taiwan and ranks fourth amongst all scooter companies in the country.

Gogoro chief marketing executive Chen Yen-yang (陳彥揚) explained the location of its GoStations, saying installation locations are based on population density, traffic flow and frequency.

According to the company's analysis, the most popular GoStation is the one located at Gogoro's Zhongzheng store in Yonghe District, New Taipei while peak hours for battery-swapping are before and after work.

In a further attempt to be environmentally conscious, Gogoro has installed two solar-powered GoStations, one in New Taipei City's Bali District and one on Heping Road near National Taiwan Normal University.

These smart stations not only provide fully-charged batteries but also information on fuel reduction and green energy use, so that scooter riders know how they are contributing environmental sustainability.
