3 Taiwanese pairs advance to Taipei Open men's doubles semifinals

Taipei, Oct. 5 (CNA) Three Taiwan badminton pairs advanced Friday to the men's doubles semifinals at the US$500,000 Yonex Chinese Taipei Open 2018.

Lu Ching-yao (盧敬堯) and Yang Po-han (楊博涵) defeated compatriots Lee Jhe-huei (李哲輝) and Lee Yang (李洋) 21-19, 17-21, 26-24 in a quarterfinal match that lasted one hour and 21 minutes.

Liao Min-chun (廖敏竣) and Su Ching-heng (蘇敬恒) routed Japan's Keiichiro Matsui and Yoshinori Takeuchi in straight sets 21-15, 21-17 in a match that lasted only 37 minutes.

Liao and Su will face compatriots Lu and Yang in the semifinals Saturday.

Meanwhile, first-seeded Chen Hung-ling (陳宏麟) and Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) defeated Malaysians Aaron Chia (謝定峰) and Wooi Yik Soh (蘇偉譯) 21-13, 17-21, 21-16 in a 47 minutes-long match.

Chen and Wang will face Bodin Isara and Maneepong Jongjit from Thailand in the semifinals on Saturday.
