Singapore, Oct. 14 (CNA) Taiwan came away from the Asian Rowing Junior Championships in Singapore this year with one bronze and two silver medals, the team coach said Saturday.

Liu Chia-chin (劉家蓁) won Taiwan's first silver medal in this year's competition, finishing second in the Junior Women's Single Sculls event, said the team coach Lin Hsin-ying (林欣穎).

The second silver medal was won by the team competing in the Junior Women's Quadruple Sculls event, namely Chen Chao-jung (陳昭容), Wan Shih-wei (萬士緯), Lin Chia-yi (林家伊) and Yang Ching-hsuan (楊靚瑄), the coach said.

Lin Chia-yi and Wan Shih-wei, who also competed in the women's double sculls race, took a bronze medal, the coach said.

A total of 22 Taiwanese rowers, including 10 females, competed this year but the men's team failed to win any medals.

The men's best performance was in the Junior Men's Quadruple Sculls race, with Wei Yen-che (魏言哲), Wang Hao-yu (王浩宇), Liu Chien (劉謙) and Chang Chih-hsun (張旨勛) finishing fourth.

The competitions consisted of four major categories -- single, double, four-person and eight-person races.

The 2017 Asian Rowing Junior Championships were held at the Pandan Reservoir in Singapore from Oct. 11-14.
