Taipei, March 14 (CNA) Major League Baseball free agent Chien-Ming Wang said Thursday that no teams from the United States or Japan have entered into contract negotiations with him.
Wang said upon his departure for the U.S. that he hopes to return to the mound in the MLB as soon as possible but said that as far as he knows, no teams either from the U.S. or Japan have been in talks with him with regards for a contract.
Wang said he will leave all contract issues to his agent.
The 32-year-old said he wants to see his kids at home in the U.S. and that he will start training on his own after returning there.
Wang, who is seeking to return to the major leagues, pitched 12 scoreless innings in two World Baseball Classic games against Australia and Japan on March 2 and March 8, respectively.
Wang said he wants to thank all infielders and outfielders for their help in keeping the teams from Australia and Japan from scoring during the games.
Local media previously reported that Wang's outstanding performance impressed Japanese baseball scouts and that some Japanese professional baseball teams are interested in signing him, but Wang had said that was only speculation.
