Taipei, Oct. 24 (CNA) Houston Rockets guard Jeremy Lin on Wednesday quoted one of his favorite Bible verses, a passage from Corinthians, to share with fans and encourage himself, drawing over 20,000 "likes" on Facebook.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me," the 24-year-old posted on his Facebook page.
Within three hours of Lin posting the passage, it had drawn more than 22,300 "likes" and had been shared over 500 times.
Lin, who sparked a global craze known as Linsanity last season after coming off the New York Knicks bench and leading the team to a seven-game winning streak, signed a US$25 million three-year contract with the Rockets in July.
In a rough start to the preseason with his new team, Lin has shot only 25 percent from the floor and averaged 5.8 points and 2.25 turnovers in his first four games. He has also dished out a more respectable 6.5 assists per game.
The Harvard graduate, who recently acknowledged that the left knee in which he had a torn meniscus surgically repaired six months ago was still bothering him, will sit out the Rockets' next preseason game against the Hornets in New Orleans Wednesday.
He may play in the Rockets' final preseason game against the Orlando Magic in Florida on Friday. The Rockets open their regular season on Oct. 31 in Detroit against the Pistons.
