Taipei, Sept. 7 (CNA) Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin visited the venues of the 2012 London Olympics on Thursday to learn from the success of the Games, as Taipei prepares to host the 2017 international collegiate sports event.
Hau toured the Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Center, Olympic Park and athlete's village, all now being used for the Paralympics.
In its preparation for the 2017 World University Games, Taipei will follow London's lead in terms of organization and environmentally friendly structures, the mayor said.
After the Unversiade, the buildings in the Taipei athlete's village will be offered as housing units for the public, he said.
Taipei can learn a lot from London's design of offices, medical and media centers, and restaurants in the athletes' village, he said.
During his visit to the athlete's village in London, Hau cheered for the Taiwanese competitors there.
So far, Taiwan has won three medals -- a silver in judo and bronzes in powerlifting and archery -- at the Paralympics, which will come to a close Sept. 9.
