Taipei, Aug. 11 (CNA) Top-ranked female golfer Yani Tseng was eliminated from the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic tournament in Sylvania, Ohio Friday after posting a total 1-over par 143 in the first two rounds.
The Taiwanese star finished at 1-over, tied for 90th in the first round. Struggling in low gear, Tseng failed to rebound in the second round, shooting down three birdies but swallowing three bogeys over the 18 holes at Highland Meadows to finish on par.
This is the third time Tseng has been cut from a tournament after the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship in the United States in late June and the July 26-29 Evian Masters in France.
Chella Choi of South Korea took the lead with 4-under par early in the second round at the Toledo Classic, which has a purse of US$1.3 million. Toledo-born Stacy Lewis, the LPGA money leader, was four shots back.
Taiwan's Candie Kung shot a 3-under to finish at 27th, qualifying for the third round, while her compatriot Amy Hung failed to win her the ticket to advance.
