Taipei, Aug. 3 (CNA) NBA player Landry Fields said he is not ruling out the chance to meet with his former teammate Jeremy Lin when they are both in Taiwan later this month, according to NBA Taiwan, which invited Fields to a local event.
Fields, along with Miami Heat's Udonis Haslem and former NBA player Gary Payton, is scheduled to take part in a three-on-three basketball exhibition in Taichung on Aug. 25-26, said Justin Kuan of NBA Taiwan.
With Lin scheduled to appear in a basketball camp in Taipei from Aug. 27, the former New York Knick teammates have a chance to meet again after both changed teams in the offseason, with Lin heading to the Houston Rockets and Fields to the Toronto Raptors.
Lin and Fields became fast friends earlier this year amid Lin's sudden rise to stardom, because as Fields said, they are both religious and geeky athletes.
Their pre-game handshake also attracted attention and was being called "nerdy" because of their educational backgrounds -- Lin graduated from Harvard, Fields from Stanford.
Meanwhile, NBA Taiwan and the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association, which are co-organizing the event, said 200 teams have signed up for the three-on-three tournament in Taichung since the end of July, and they plan to accept up to 500 teams for the event.
