Taipei, June 25 (CNA) New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin is scheduled to coach a group of lucky local young talented players in late August, the organizer said Monday, adding that registration for the basketball camp had already opened.

Lin, the first NBA player of Taiwanese descent, is set to host the camp Aug. 27-30 at the Nanshan High School in New Taipei, according to Flight Marketing.

A total of 120 people -- 60 each from elementary and junior high schools -- will be selected out of an expected 2,000 hopefuls through a series of competitions that will be held in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung ahead of Lin's arrival, according to the marketing firm.

Lin's physical trainer and shooting coach will travel with him to make sure he stays fit enough for the next NBA season and they will also provide some additional quality instruction on basketball techniques at the camp.

Lin's visit is part of an Asian tour, but the marketing company only confirmed his schedule for the youth basketball clinic. His arrival date and a schedule for various other events have yet to be settled.

It will be the second time the Harvard graduate has demonstrated his game skills in Taiwan. He participated in a similar camp last August, prior to his breakout season that rocked the basketball world earlier this year. The 23-year-old sparked a media-grabbing "Linsanity" craze in February when he helped a previously lackluster Knicks to a seven-game winning streak.
