Taiwanese extreme marathon runner to carry torch for London Games

Kaohsiung, June 23 (CNA) Samsung Mobile Taiwan said Saturday that Taiwanese extreme marathon runner Chen Yen-po and two other people selected to represent the company have arrived in the United Kingdom to take part in the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay on Sunday.

Chen and the two other individuals -- Shih Mu-piao, vice president of Taipei-based Chunghwa Telecom Co. and Peng Chiun-ping, president of BEST Taiwan Inc. -- are currently in Manchester in preparation for the torch relay, said the South Korean-based company, one of the partners of the world sports meet.

Chen, who will carry the torch through Stockport, will be the 42nd individual to take the torch. Shih and Peng will respectively be the 98th and 106th runners to carry the torch over a distance of 300 meters each.
