Jeremy Lin arrives in Taiwan for exhibition game

Taipei, July 28 (CNA) Jeremy Lin, the first person of Taiwanesedescent to formally sign with a National Basketball Association (NBA)team, arrived in Taiwan early Wednesday morning to play in a game forcharity featuring NBA players.

Invited by Houston Rockets center Yao Ming, Lin will have littletime to get over his jet lag when he plays in the game at TaipeiArena on Wednesday night that was organized by Yao and his charityfoundation.

Lin is also scheduled to coach young players at a Junior NBAbasketball camp at Nanshan High School in the Taipei suburb ofJhonghe on Thursday.

The son of Taiwanese parents who emigrated to the United Statesin 1971, Lin is in Taiwan for the first time in seven years. He issure to have a strong fan base here after signing a contract with theNBA's Golden State Warriors earlier this month.

Upon his arrival, Lin thanked Yao for inviting him to participatein the charity event, but he did not answer questions on whether hewould be willing to representing Taiwan in international basketballcompetitions.

Other NBA players who will be playing in Wednesday night's gameinclude Brandon Jennings of the Milwaukee Bucks, the NBA's MostImproved Player Aaron Brooks of the Houston Rockets, and HasheemThabeet of the Memphis Grizzlies.
