Traffic restrictions set for Taipei music festival fireworks

Taipei, Aug. 17 (CNA) Traffic restrictions will be imposed on Saturday ahead of a fireworks display that is a part of an annual music festival taking place in the city's historic Dadaocheng area, according to the event's website.

Vehicles will be prohibited from entering an area framed to the north by Liangzhou Street, to the east by Yanping North Road and Tacheng Street, and to the south by Chang'an West and Zhongxiao West roads from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., the website showed.

During that time, vehicles will also be prohibited from heading west on Minsheng West Road, Nanjing West Road and Chang'an West Road past their intersections with Chongqing North Road.

Partial restrictions will be in effect for vehicles wishing to travel south on Yanping North Road past the Minquan West Road intersection, the map showed.

In addition, vehicles will be restricted from heading west on Minsheng West Road past the Chengde Road intersection from 8:40 p.m. to 9:50 p.m., the website said.

Taipei police said restrictions will also be imposed on exit and entry ramps on the Huanhe Expressway and Civic Boulevard near the event.

The "2018 Taipei Riverside Festival: Sounds from the Riverside" opened Friday at the city's Yanping Riverside Park and runs through Sunday.

The fireworks show will be held from 8:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, and police urged people heading to the area for the festival and the fireworks to use public transportation.
