Taipei, June 20 (CNA) Taoyuan police arrested a suspected drug dealer Tuesday and seized 9.2 kilograms of illicit drugs worth NT$10 million (US$332,226), local police said Wednesday.

After an investigation lasting more than half a month, police detained the 49-year-old man surnamed Pan as he was leaving his home in Chungli, according to Chang Jen-ching (張仁慶), chief of the Pingchen (平鎮) police substation investigation team.

A total of 9.2 kilograms of pure ketamine with a market value of NT$10 million and NT$640,000 in cash were found in a travel bag he was carrying, Chang said, noting that this was the largest bust of ketamine seized in Taoyuan in recent years.

Pan, who has several drug-related criminal convictions, is believed to have sold drugs at local pubs and clubs, according to Chang, who said the suspect has been turned over to the Taoyuan Prosecutors Office for further investigation.
