Taipei, Feb. 9 (CNA) People wishing to visit the Wuling National Forest Recreation Area in central Taiwan for cherry blossom season are reminded to be mindful of crowd and traffic controls that will be in place Feb. 16-25.

With both snow and cherry blossoms present in the recreation area, Wuling, situated on Xueshan in central Taiwan's Taichung, is expected to attract many visitors in the coming weeks.

Crowd and traffic controls will therefore be in place when cherry blossom season officially kicks off Feb. 16 and will remain until Feb. 25, said Lu Shih-che (盧世哲), deputy head of the fifth division of the Seventh Special Police Corps.

Unless tourists are staying in lodges in the Wuling Farm area, the number of people allowed onto the mountain is capped at 6,000 per day, and all visitors will have to travel via public transportation.

As of a day earlier, more than 400 people had already visited the area as the cherry trees have already started to blossom, while some 100 people visited earlier Friday, Lu noted.

Lu reminded members of the public to equip their cars with snow chains if they plan to visit in the next few days, as snow has accumulated on roads near and on the mountain.
