Temperatures in Taiwan soar to highest this year

The temperature in the Chiayi area in southern Taiwan climbed to 37.2 degrees Celsius on Friday, the highest in the country so far this year and also the highest for the county since records began in 1968, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.
