Drivers urged to heed approaching vehicles when opening doors

A total of 3,258 incidents occurred last year because drivers or passengers failed to pay attention to approaching vehicles coming from behind when opening their doors, resulting in five deaths and 3,800 injuries, a government official said Wednesday.
