Taipei, Aug. 1 (CNA) The number of furloughed workers in Taiwan has increased slightly over the past two weeks, the Council of Labor Affairs said Wednesday.
The council said 22 companies reported 628 employees who were on leave without pay as of the end of July, compared with 20 companies reporting 610 furloughed employees as of July 15, said Chen Hui-ling, chief of the council's Department of Labor Standards.
The figures on furloughed workers are released on the 1st and 16th day of every month.
The council said it will continue to monitor the situation and assist local labor administrations on matters regarding workers' rights.
