Taipei, Oct. 22 (CNA) The chairman of Sunrise Group, title sponsor of the 2013 Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship, said Tuesday he is uncertain if the Taiwan LPGA event will continue next year.

"Maybe no, and maybe yes," Hsu Tien-ya said during a press conference.

The Sunrise Golf & Country Club is hosting the LPGA tournament for the third year in a row, the final year of a three-year contract with the U.S.-based LPGA.

Hsu, who is also president of the Golf Association of the Republic of China, said he hopes a new sponsor can take over the tournament in the future, but added that his organization would consider hosting for several more years if necessary.

This year's event, which carries a purse of US$2 million, will tee off on Oct. 24 at the Sunrise Golf and Country Club in Taoyuan.

Four of the top 10 players on the LPGA Tour's money list will be taking part in the four-day tournament. They are Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, American Lexi Thompson, Spaniard Beatriz Recari and South Korean Na Yeon Choi.

It will also see a record 10 Taiwanese players, including former world No. 1 Yani Tseng, who currently ranks 25th.

A Pro-Am event will take place Wednesday as a warm-up before the tournament officially starts.
