Taipei, Sept. 25 (CNA) Runners in Taipei will paint the town red -- and a host of other colors -- when the city holds its first official Color Run on Sept. 28.
A festival of colored paint and 5-kilometer marathon rolled into one, the Color Run hopes to capitalize on growing local interest in marathons, organizers said Wednesday.
First-time runners can look forward to professional coaches from Nike, Inc., who will lead participants in warm up exercises before they take off across Dajia Riverside Park, according to organizer IME Worldwide.
Each kilometer of the track is celebrated with a shower of colored powder and side-line events, a model billed as "the happiest 5k on the planet."
The fun does not end at the 5k mark, though, with music from DJ Noodle and entertainment provided by street dance group PHD.
IMG promised an easy clean-up to the event, too. Mats will be laid to protect the paths and grass of the riverside park from stray colors, and facilities will be available for runners to wash off their colors before returning home.
Now held on five continents, the Color Run aims to make the world a brighter place with an untimed race where no winner is named.
Organizers say the coloring powder used washes off of clothes, skin, and hair, and is 100 percent non-toxic.
