Taipei, Sept. 12 (CNA) Six Taiwanese fashion designers will showcase their latest collections during New York Fashion Week to introduce the country's design power to the world, the Taiwan Textile Federation said Wednesday.
The designers will first unveil their pieces at a joint exhibition titled "Still Fashion Presentation" in New York's hpgrp gallery Thursday, and another show titled "Moda Manhattan 2013 Spring Collection" will be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from Sept. 19-21, the federation said.
The exhibitions during New York Fashion Week, which runs Sept. 6-13, will present spectators the culture and the creativity of Taiwan's fashion industry, it added.
Indigenous designer Andre Kao will showcase his collection that features elements of Taiwan's aboriginal, contemporary and pop cultures, said the federation, which headed the group to New York.
In addition, Eve Lin, who held a well-received exhibition in London in 2010, will present her first menswear line, while Fala Chien, the founder of the brands of "Play with Fala" and "Fala by Fala Chien" will show off creations featuring different images of women, the federation said.
Hsu Chiu-i, Sun Yu-hong and Fan Jin-ruei, who was named as one of the most exciting up-and-coming young designers by Elle magazine in 2012, will also show collections at the two events.
