Taipei, June 1 (CNA) Tropical Storm Mawar's outer rim may bring heavy rain to Taiwan Sunday, the Central Weather Bureau said Friday.
The tropical storm, which formed near the Philippines, is moving at 12 kilometers per hour in a northwesterly direction, the bureau said.
Mawar is considered mild, with maximum sustained winds of 18 meters per seconds and gusts reaching 25 mps, the bureau added.
The storm, which is currently 940 kilometers southeast of Taiwan's southern tip, is expected to pass over the country's eastern sea region from June 3-4.
Mawar means "rose" in Malay.
