Taipei, May 19 (CNA) Heavy downpours are likely across the island until Monday due to a lingering frontal system, the Central Weather Bureau said Saturday.
The bureau has issued torrential rain warnings for northern, central and southern Taiwan in the next few days, forecasting precipitation of more than 130 millimeters in a 24-hour period.
The unstable weather pattern could last into next week when the front is expected to move south, away from Taiwan main proper, the bureau said.
Until then, people should be alert to the danger of landslides, falling rocks and swollen rivers as a result of heavy downpours, the bureau warned.
