Taipei, April 27 (CNA) The year's first plum rain front will arrive over Taiwan on May 3 or 4 to kick off a two-month rainy season, the Central Weather Bureau said Friday.
The most intense rainfall during the season is expected between mid-May and mid-June, bringing heavy precipitation to the drought-prone central and southern regions, forecasters said.
They urged people to pay attention to thunder and lightning, which are common during the plum rain season, and avoid outdoor activities.
Meanwhile, they said chances of rain remain high around Taiwan Friday because of the influence of a rainband from southern China, with downpours likely in central and southern Taiwan and mountainous areas in the north.
A similar weather pattern is expected Saturday, followed by a more stable period starting Sunday, the forecasters said.
