Taipei, Nov. 17 (CNA) The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) said Saturday that an exclusive interview with its Chairman James Moriarty by Taiwan's television network TVBS can be seen on its Facebook page.

AIT has posted Chairman Moriarty's interview on its Facebook page, and everyone is welcome to watch the video, AIT spokesperson Amanda Mansour told CNA.

Moriarty granted the cable news channel an interview during his visit to Taiwan from Nov. 4-10. The content was posted on the network's official website on Nov. 9.

In his interview, the AIT chairman talked about United States -Taiwan relations, expressed his views on the country's upcoming 9-in-1 local elections on Nov. 24, as well as issues relating to the spread of false information.

"There obviously are attempts by external powers here in Taiwan to try and alter the debate and to spread false information, and those are dangerous," Moriarty said during his interview with TVBS.

The video was aired once on television, with a clip posted on Nov. 9, but was subsequently pulled from the network's website a few days later and can no longer be viewed online.

A report published by Next Magazine on Friday claimed that the video was removed on direct orders from the TV network's top brass.

On Saturday, TVBS accused the magazine of reporting erroneous information, saying the report deviated from the facts and represented a violation of journalistic ethics, though TVBS failed to explain why the video had been removed.

Meanwhile, AIT refused to comment on the dispute, except to say: "AIT welcomes anyone who would like to watch AIT Chairman Moriarty's interview to visit our Facebook page, where we have posted TVBS's report."
