Premier Lai's assets disclosed by Control Yuan

Taipei, Feb. 14 (CNA) Premier Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and his wife have total bank savings of NT$1.96 million (US$66,800), an amount that is NT$3.42 million less than in November 2016 when he was mayor of Tainan, according to the latest "Clean Politics Report" published Wednesday by the Control Yuan.

Lai has also declared negotiable securities of NT$32.92 million -- an increase of NT$5.5 million from a year ago -- a plot of land, a house, a Toyota car, and four insurances, all of which he had when he made his previous declaration, the Control Yuan said.

Meanwhile, Academia Sinica President James C. Liao (廖俊智) and his wife declared bank savings of NT$16.07 million, negotiable securities of NT$1.38 million, a BMW car, a Toyota car and debts of NT$12 million on a home mortgage.

In their previous declaration, Liao and his wife reported their properties with NT$13.43 million in bank deposits, NT$1.29 million in negotiable securities, three cars and debts of over NT$13 million stemming from a home mortgage.

Minister of Foreign Affairs David Lee (李大維) and his wife declared two land plots, two houses, banks deposits of NT$32.24 million and negotiable securities of NT$29.15 million, according to the latest "Clean Politics Report."

Compared with their previous declaration, the Lees' bank deposits decreased by NT$11 million and their debts were NT$8.5 million.
