Taipei, Nov. 8 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) hopes to strengthen exchanges with Haiti through further cooperation, she told a visiting delegation from the Caribbean country Wednesday.

Apart from economic and trade exchanges, good results have been achieved through cooperation on infrastructure, agriculture, education and public health, Tsai said while meeting with a delegation headed by Youri Latortue, president of Haiti's senate.

Latortue's visit will further strengthen exchanges between the two countries, she said.

Tsai also mentioned Haiti's backing of Taiwan to participate in international organizations, including its longtime support for Taiwan's inclusion in the United Nations and the International Civil Aviation Organization.

In September, at the general debate of the UN general assembly, Haiti's president, Jovenel Moise, personally voiced support for Taiwan in a sign of the friendship between the two countries, she said, and she extended an invitation for Moise to visit Taiwan.
