Taipei, Oct. 21 (CNA) The weather in northern Taiwan will remain cool this week, with sharp temperature drops at night, due to prevailing northeasterly winds, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Monday.

"Signs of autumn are emerging," the weather bureau said.

It forecast that daytime highs will range from 20-28 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, 19-30 degrees in central areas, 19-31 degrees in the south, and 19-28 degrees in the east.

Lows of 19-24 degrees can be expected at night in the north, 19-27 degrees in central parts of the country, 19-28 in the south, and 19-25 in the east, according to the CWB.

Due to the northeasterly winds, it will be mostly cloudy across Taiwan on Monday and Tuesday, with sporadic showers in the Greater Taipei area and eastern Taiwan, the weather bureau said.

From Wednesday to Sunday, sporadic showers can be expected in the northern and eastern areas of the country, the bureau said.
