Taipei, May 29 (CNA) Taiwan's military has not purchased products from eight Taiwanese companies that have recently been put on a U.S. Department of Commerce blacklist, military officials said Wednesday.

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced on May 15 that Chinese telecom giant Huawei and its 70 affiliated companies were listed on the department's export control "entity list" because of violations of U.S. national security and foreign policy interests.

Among the 70 were eight Taiwanese enterprises, including Xunwei Technologies (訊崴科技), Huawei's representative in Taiwan.

Aside from their association with Huawei, the other seven Taiwanese companies were listed because of suspected violations of the Iranian embargo, reports said.

Asked to comment, Taiwan's defense ministry and National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST), the nation's top military research institute, both said Wednesday that they have not purchased any products produced by these companies on the blacklist.

Apart from Xunwei Techonologies, the other seven companies or heads of companies on the blacklist were Hivocal Technology Co. (Taipei); Enrich Ever Technologies Co. Ltd.; Kuang-Su Co., Ltd. (Taipei); Infinity Wise Technology (Taoyuan); Arthur Siou (Taipei); Landstar Tech Company Limited (Taipei); and Yi-Lan Chen (Taipei), head of Lu Xing technology.
