Magnitude 5.7 quake hits eastern Taiwan

Taipei, Feb. 7 (CNA) A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck eastern Taiwan at 11:21 p.m. Wednesday, with central Hualien County registering an intensity of 4, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

The epicenter of the quake was located 22.1 kilometers northeast of the Hualien County hall, at a depth of 10 km, said the CWB.

Intensity 4 was reported in Hualien City and the townships of Tailuge, Yanliao and Xiulin in the county and also in Nan'ao of neighboring Yilan County and Hehuanshan of Nantou County, according to the weather bureau.

No immediate injuries or damage were immediately reported.
