Taiwan-Japan flights on Sunday canceled due to Typhoon Talim

Taipei, Sept. 16 (CNA) Several airlines announced Saturday that their flights between Taiwan and Japan on Sunday will be canceled as Typhoon Talim could make landfall on Kyushu in southwestern Japan overnight.

China Airlines said flights CI-110/111 between Taoyuan and Fukuoka, CI-172/173 between Taoyuan and Osaka, and CI-176/177 between Kaohsiung and Osaka have been canceled.

Tigerair Taiwan said flights IT-206/207 between Taoyuan and Nagoya, IT-211/212/213 between Taoyuan and Osaka, IT-214/215 between Taoyuan and Okayama, and IT-284 from Kaohsiung to Osaka have also been canceled.

EVA Airways has canceled flights BR-105/106 on the Taoyuan-Fukuoka route, flights BR-129/130/179/180 on the Taoyaun-Osaka route and flights BR-119/120 on the Kaohsiung-Fukuoka route.

As of 2 p.m. Saturday, Talim was located 700 kilometers northeast of Taipei, according to the Central Weather Bureau.

The storm was moving in a east-northeasterly direction at 19 kilometers per hour, packing maximum sustained winds of 126 km per hour, with gusts of up to 162 kph, according to the bureau.
