Taipei, Sept. 10 (CNA) As Tropical Storm Talim makes its way toward Taiwan, sea and land warnings are expected to be issued on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) reported on Sunday.

Talim, this year's 18th tropical storm over the Pacific, is now some 2,310 kilometers away from Taiwan's southernmost tip, Eluanbi, moving in a west-northwesterly direction toward the Bashi Channel at a speed of 25 km per hour, according to bureau data.

If it continues on its current path, Talim will likely affect Taiwan's weather starting Wednesday and a sea warning would be issued on Tuesday, followed by a land warning on the same day or Wednesday, CWB forecaster Yen Tseng-hsi (顏增璽) said, urging the public to take precautions.

Chances are high that the storm could strengthen into a typhoon and its impact on Taiwan will depend on whether it veers off north, he said.
