Taipei, Aug. 21 (CNA) The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) has issued a land warning for Tropical Storm Hato, which the bureau said poses a threat to the Taitung and Pingtung counties and Hengchun Peninsula in southern Taiwan.

The land warning was issued at 2:30 p.m. as reported in the weather bureau's preliminary notice.

As of 2:30 p.m., Hato, the 13th storm in this year's Pacific typhoon season, was located 380 kilometers east-southeast of Eluanbi, Taiwan's southernmost tip.

The storm was moving in a west-northwest direction at 15-19 kilometers per hour, packing sustained winds of 65 kph, with gusts of up to 90 kph, according to data on the bureau's official website.

The data indicates the storm's periphery is approaching Bashi Channel and will affect Taitung in the southeast, Hengchun Peninsula and the southernmost county of Pingtung later Monday.

The bureau predicted Hato will be located 70 km southwest of Eluanbi at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
