"Do Not Say We Have Nothing" by Madeleine Thien (鄧敏靈), a Canadian author of Chinese descent, has emerged as a hopeful winner of the Man Booker Prize and Governor General's Award for English-language fiction, both of which will be announced Oct. 25.
