Dammam, Saudi Arabia, July 9 (CNA) The Taiwanese drumming troupe U-Theatre said Monday it has a busy schedule of overseas tours in the next few months, following its hugely successful week of performances in Saudi Arabia.
The troupe, known for its unique combination of drumming, Zen meditation and martial arts, will perform in Hong Kong, Germany and Italy later this year, a spokesman said prior to U-Theatre's departure for home.
In September, the troupe will perform its signature piece "Sound of the Ocean" in Germany and Italy, and in October it will present "Beyond Time" in Hong Kong, the spokesman said.
"Beyond Time," which premiered in late 2011, combines drumming, dancing and technology. Its choreography is consistent with the troupe's signature Zen-style presentations, which embody a mind over matter approach in man's relationship with the universe.
"Beyond Time" will be the third piece by U-Theatre to be performed internationally, the spokesman said, noting that the other two productions were "Sound of the Ocean" and "Meeting with Vajrasattva."
The troupe's presentation of an adapted version of its trademark "Sound of the Ocean" at the Saudi Aramco Summer Festival in the city of Dammam from July 4-8 was very well received.
Organizers said the performances put more Saudi people in touch with the performing arts and was one of the most highly praised presentations at the festival.
