Peak power use on Monday highest of the year as mercury soars

Electricity consumption in Taiwan hit its highest peak of the year on Monday, triggering a tight supply warning, as daytime highs surged above 34 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country, state-owned Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) said.
