Taipei, Jan. 4 (CNA) About 50 companies are expected to go public on Taiwan's main board this year, Taiwan Stock Exchange Corp. Chairman Schive Chi said Friday.
Of the 50 new companies expected to seek listing, up to 26 will be local enterprises, Schive said.
The number of overseas-based companies seeking listing could be the highest since 2010, when such companies were first allowed to go public on Taiwan's main board, he noted.
Meanwhile, a greater variety of non-Taiwanese firms are planning to seek listing, as opposed to the past, when overseas-based Taiwanese businesses account for the majority, Schive said.
So far, he said, 16 non-Taiwanese-owned companies are mulling listing, of which two each are from the United States and Japan, five come from Hong Kong and Macau, while seven are from Southeast Asia, he said.
