Eva Air wins Commonwealth Magazine Golden Service Award

Taipei, July 10 (CNA) Eva Air, one of Taiwan's major carriers, defeated Singapore Airlines, one of the world's leading international airlines, by 6.84 points to win Commonwealth Magazine's 2012 Golden Service Award Tuesday.

Eva Air rated 85.59 points out of 100 to take the top spot for best service in the airline category in the local magazine's online survey.

The Taiwanese airline had the highest rankings in five out of seven indicators, including customer satisfaction, reputation, atmosphere, efficiency and service attitude.

Singapore Airlines trailed second with 78.75 points, followed by China Airlines (76.3 points), Japan Airlines (69.41 points) and Cathay Pacific Airways (69.22 points).

It is the second time this year that Eva Airlines had received media affirmation. The airline was selected Monday by readers of renowned New York-based Travel & Leisure magazine as one of the Top 10 International Airlines in the 2011 World's Best Awards.

The airline ranked number 10 in the Travel & Leisure 2011 survey.

Commonwealth Magazine cited the company's ability to market its brand, and its use of premium products to attract high-end consumers.

The online survey was conducted between May 27 and June 8 among magazine subscribers to evaluate 297 companies in 23 industries and select those that provide the best services based on brand recognition and service quality.

A total of 9,568 valid samples were collected, with a 95 percent confidence level and a margin of error of minus or plus 2.7-4.2 percentage points .
