Taipei, April 18 (CNA) British chipset designer ARM Holdings Plc announced Wednesday that it will expand its lineup of mobile processor solutions by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the world's largest contract chipmaker.
ARM will release at least nine new configurations using TSMC's 40- and 28-nanometer technologies, reducing the time to market to as little as six weeks in the development of ARM-based chips, TSMC said in a statement.
"ARM has been working closely with TSMC on advanced technologies and has a proven and rich roadmap of optimized ARM core solutions," said Cliff Hou, vice president of research and development at TSMC.
According to ARM, its solutions for TSMC's 40-nanometer process have been used in applications such as smart TV, set-top boxes, mobile computing devices and smartphones.
In addition, chips using ARM's new solutions and TSMC's 28-nanometer technology will enter the final stage of the design cycle in the coming months, the British company said.
