Taipei, Feb. 19 (CNA) Taiwanese tennis veteran Hsieh Su-wei (謝淑薇) won twice at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships Tuesday, advancing to the next rounds of the women's singles and doubles tournaments.

The 32-year old Hsieh got off to a good start at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium, by defeating Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus in 68 minutes (6-1, 6-2) to advance to the third round of the competition.

The victory marked her second straight sets victory against the Belarusian, after their recent encounter at the Qatar Total Open earlier in February, where Hsieh won 6-2, 6-0 in the tournament's opening round.

She will next face the winner of the second round match between Angelique Kerber of Germany and Dalila Jakupovic of Slovenia.

Ranked World No. 31 in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), Hsieh grabbed her second victory in the women's doubles played later the same day.

Hsieh, partnering with Czech player Barbora Strycova for the third time since the recently concluded Qatar Total Open, defeated Japanese duo Miyu Kato and Makoto Ninomiya 6-3, 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals.

The 2019 Dubai Tennis Championships is an ATP 500 event on the 2019 ATP Tour and a WTA Premier 5 event on the 2019 WTA Tour. The women's tournament concludes on Feb. 23.
