Taipei, Nov. 10 (CNA) Taiwanese badminton ace Chou Tien-chen (周天成) cruised past his Chinese opponent on Saturday to advance to the final of the men's singles at the Fuzhou China Open.

In two straight games, world No. 3 Chou defeated fourth-seeded Shi Yuqi 21-11, 21-10 in a match that lasted just 35 minutes.

Prior to Saturday's game, Chou had succeeded in beating Shi only once in their last four encounters, at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia in August.

Shi is currently ranked second in the world by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Chou will face either Kento Momota of Japan or Chen Long of China in the final on Sunday.

The Fuzhou China Open, which has a purse of US$700,000, is a BWF World Tour Grade 2 Level 3 tournament.

It is being held at the Haixia Olympic Sports Center in Fuzhou until Sunday.
