Taipei, Dec. 29 (CNA) All of the tickets for pop diva A-mei's shows in Taipei next year sold out in just 12 minutes over the weekend.

Tickets for the 10 "Utopia" concerts at Taipei Arena April 4-15 went on sale at 10 a.m. on Sunday, but all 120,000 were snatched up in just the blink of an eye. They were priced from NT$600 (US$18.90) to NT$3,600.

"Thank you; (I'm) in tears!!!" the 42-year-old singer wrote on her Facebook page in response to the enthusiastic reception.

The high demand caused delays in the online purchase system, with many fans complaining that they got stuck at the checkout stage.

A-mei's manager Edward Chan took to the Internet to apologize for the inconvenience, saying there were not enough machines to handle credit card payments and noting that some gave up instead of waiting because they thought they had already missed their chance at nabbing tickets.

A-mei, a member of Taiwan's indigenous Puyuma tribe, launched her wildly successful music career in 1996 with her debut album "Sisters." She has since released over a dozen studio albums and is a two-time winner of the Best Mandarin Female Singer award at Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards.

She won the award in 2002 for her album "Truth" and again in 2010 for her album "A-mit."
