Taiwan Brands Spotlighted for Excellence and Innovation This year's TAIPEI CYCLE opens a showcase on 60 awarded products of excellence at the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion next to the main entrance of the NANGANG Exhibition Hall. That's where you can see the best from super stars of Taiwan’s bicycle industry including GIANT, MERIDA, IDEAL, CMC, MAXXIS, KENDA as well as world manufacturers including Shimano, SRAM, Campagnolo, Continental, and Colnago, the France Pavilion (made up of 13 French manufacturers under UBI FRANCE), and the European Union Pavilion on the first and fourth floors. There are also 49 manufacturers in the China Pavilion on the fifth floor of TWTC NANGANG.
Of special interest are the products presented with the TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards. This first-time endeavor aims to inspire makers to go that extra mile in innovation to put Taiwan bicycles out front. Organized by TAITRA and TBEA, this event brings added prestige since it is administered by iF Design, the world-renowned design organization.
Seventy-four out of 207 works from 16 countries/regions were selected as winners of the first TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards. Among them, five are from Taiwan’s Giant, FAIRLY, KMC, Kenda, and Ke Chiuan who are all taking home coveted gold awards. All winning works will be on display in their respective sections on the first and fourth floors of the NANGANG Exhibition Hall during the show.
The 16th International Bicycle Design Competition (IBDC) had 839 products from 51 countries competing for NT$500 thousand in prize money. Nineteen works were selected, including “Beecycle” that generates power when riding, “Rico's Wooden Bike” that features an innovative wood pressure treatment technology, “SPOT LIGHT” which increases the area and pattern of light projection based on a person's visual reaction for a better and more fun experience when cycling at night, and “Happy Paradise” that transforms from a child's bicycle into a small-wheel bicycle so that a child can continue to ride it as they grow. These creative designs must be seen to be believed.
Another highlight of today’s International Bicycle Design Competition (IBDC) Award Ceremony will be IBDC and the world famous iF International Forum Design GmbH signing their collaboration agreement that officially combines the strengths of the IBDC and TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards into one event. Starting next year, they will be promoted under the name of TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards.

The dynamics behind the constant growth and success of TAIPEI CYCLE in attracting visitors and makers has been the constant work of the industry who strives behind the scenes for the best in quality, design and innovation. That constant work has helped to propel the show to become Asia’s largest sourcing hub.

Get set to see even bigger things as this event grows in confidence and lays down roots around the world, especially with the advent of the d&i awards.”
