Paris, July 18 (CNA) Five performance groups from Taiwan are showcasing their work at the Festival D'Avignon Off 2012 in the south of France -- currently in its second week --and have received praise from the French media.
The five groups are the Multi-X Theatre Company, the Water Reflection Dance Ensemble, the Short One Player Theatre, the Mobius Strip Theatre and Freedom Beat.
Le Figaro, one of France's main newspapers, praised the Short One Player Theatre for encompassing the transcendence of generations and for exploring the relationship between condolence and love between family members.
Another paper, Liberation, commended the solo performance of Vera Chen from the Multi-X Theatre Company as being very creative and interesting to watch.
Meanwhile, the Water Reflection Dance Ensemble and the Mobius Strip Theatre are using innovative ways to advertise their performances on the streets, attracting attention by using Chinese gongs and bowls to make unique sounds.
The members of Freedom Beat said they are always excited when performing because those who come to watch their percussion performance encompass such a broad age range.
The Festival D'Avignon Off takes place each year on the fringe of the official Festival D'Avignon and includes over 1,000 unique shows in a host of different venues from July 7-28.
While it is the first time the five Taiwanese are participating in the festival, it is actually the sixth consecutive year that Taiwanese artists have performed there.
