Taipei, June 28 (CNA) Taiwanese music fans will have a chance to attend a live concert by noted Senegalese-American hip hop and R&B singer Akon when he performs in Taipei for the first time this week, the organizers said Thursday.
Akon, who has been nominated five times for Grammy Awards over the years, will give one concert in Asia this year -- the performance at ATT Show Box on Saturday.
He is scheduled to sing more than 20 songs, including the hits "Lonely," "I Wanna Love You," and "Don't Matter."
The "Akon Live" concert was about 80 percent sold out as of Thursday, according to the organizers.
During his three-day visit, the singer will have a chance to sample Taiwanese street snacks such as steamed dumplings and oyster omelets, the organizers said.
He is scheduled to arrive in Taiwan on Friday and leave July 1.
